In his book Preparing for Liturgy, A Theology and Spirituality, Austin Fleming reminds us of the difference between planning and preparation in that “much of our Sunday Eucharist is in place before any planning team swings into action.”
The Order of Mass provides the outline, the scripture readings are determined by the liturgical calendar and the three-year cycle of the lectionary.
The prayer texts are set forth in the Roman Missal as are all dialogue between the presiding priest and the assembly. The priest presides and members of the community are designated to carry out the various ministerial tasks within the celebration.
The web pages in this section will assist those preparing for the Sunday Eucharist, including selecting appropriate music with consideration being given to the three judgements stipulated by the Church: (liturgical, theological, and musical) and to the scripture readings of the day and the liturgical season.
Sample Prayers of the Faithful are prepared by the Liturgy Centre for each Sunday of the three liturgical years and these are available two weeks in advance.
The Sunday Mass Readings are available one week in advance in Te Reo Maori.
